At least three police cars and six police officers surrounded the house of dismissed Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay when the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) served a dismissal order issued by the Ombudsman.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales last week ordered Junjun’s dismissal from office for the allegedly overpriced construction of the Makati City Hall Building II.
DILG-National Capital Region director Maria Lourdes Agustin’s has claimed that no police cars surrounded Junjun’s house in San Antonio Village, when the order was served on October 14.
But the office of Vice President Jejomar Binay released closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to bolster its claim that Junjun was harassed.
Joy Salgado, the Vice President’s spokesman, said Agustin is a liar.
Salgado branded the harassment as overkill and overacting and slammed the DILG’s deployment of the police.
“The CCTV footage taken at the time is proof that that the DILG is lying,” Salgado said.
Salgado said contrary to Agustin’s claim that no police cars surrounded Junjun’s house in San Antonio Village, the video showed at least three police cars and six police officers were in the vicinity on Wednesday morning.
